The Golden State Warriors will sign the NBA G League’s top rebounder, Jez Johnson, to an Exhibit 10 contract, according to a report by renowned sportswriter Shams Charania.
Jace Johnson, who stands at 7 feet tall and plays center on the floor, averaged six points and seven rebounds per game in the Summer League in July.
Johnson graduated from Marquette University and went undrafted in the 2020 NBA Draft. After going undrafted, he spent a year in Romania before joining the Santa Cruz Warriors for the 2022-23 season. Last year, Johnson played in 32 G League regular season games, averaging 9.4 points, 13.5 rebounds and 1.3 caps per game while shooting 57.8 percent from the field.
Shams Charania noted that Johnson will compete for a two-way spot in Warriors training camp. The Golden State Warriors currently have two open two-way contract spots, with Lester Quinones occupying one. Jawan Johnson and Jerome Robinson will reportedly join the Warriors in training camp by signing Exhibit 10 contracts, but those deals have not been formalized.
If Johnson is cut by the Braves, he could also be paid up to $75,000 by rejoining the Santa Cruz Braves and playing at least 60 days with that NBAGL club.
