According to reports, Christian Wood remains the best option for the Lakers to supplement their roster spots.
Lakers general manager Pelinka previously said in a media interview that he hoped to bring in the team’s 14th man before training camp for the new season, and there are some people within the team who are optimistic about signing Wood.
In the 2022-23 regular season, Wood averaged 16.6 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists.
There are two main reasons why Wood, who has such great numbers, has not been signed so far.
The first is Wood’s poor defensive ability. Wood’s height is 2 meters 06, arm span 2 meters 22, in the field Wood basically has no defensive ability. Or rather he does not have any willingness to defend, and the points he gained in the offensive round will be immediately thrown back in the defensive round.
The second problem is his toxic attributes in the locker room, whether it’s with the Pistons, Rockets, or now the Mavericks before that. He has made some locker room conflicts in every team, which is a headache for all coaches.
